Evil Plan

Brenden has a bit of a lying problem.  After 2 lies in less than five minutes, I sent him to his room and told him I would be there to talk to him in a minute.

Me: Brenden, why are you lying?
Brenden: I had a plan...
Me: What kind of plan?
Brenden: ...an evil plan.

He then proceeded to tell me the story of Esther from the Bible and how there was a lying man who had an evil plan to kill the Jews (which he pronounces "juice").  How am I supposed to keep a straight face through THAT?

Sunday during our 2 hour church meeting, Brenden read a 263 page children's Book of Mormon and started in on the 282 page Children's Bible.  He stayed in the car Sunday afternoon to read it until I made him come in for lunch.  He was finished only a little while later.  He read various books almost the entire afternoon.  He amazes me - he remembers all of it, nearly every last word he read.  Now, application is key...

Hilarious! At least he was honest about his evil plan!

I'm starting to have problems with Kaelin being deceptive too...and it's always over the most unimportant stuff, which is weird to me.
But she's a "reinterpreter" - when she gets in trouble for something, she reinterprets the events to show that she wasn't ACTUALLY doing what we caught her doing - we just misunderstood. "No, I wasn't turning the TV on, I was trying to stop Vitamin Kitty from turning the TV on!"
Sometimes the stories get very outlandish. I hate to admit it, but sometimes I end up being more impressed with her creativity and quick wit than I am irritated by her behavior.

I can relate. Audrey convinced her class that she was taking Japanese lessons acould speak Japanese. I guess it caused quite an uproar in the class and the whole class had to have a talk about being honest. Even worse, she told the teacher that John and I were fighting a lot and that John was kicked out. Completely untrue. I am going to be the parent that has child protective services at my house because my kid is telling fibs.

Wow, Sarah. At least Brenden is only lying to our family - that I know of. Did the teacher tell you that Audrey said that about you and John? That's pretty gutsy of her - she would have been embarrassed had it been true. Does she go to John's school?
