Denali Day 1 - Part 2

After we left the park, we returned to our quaint cabins, had some dinner, and went off to explore.
Otto Lake

The Boehmes arrive!

On July 25 we drove to Anchorage to pick up Doug's parents and his brother Greg. From there, we headed to Denali National Park for a few days.
I find this photo HILARIOUS for some reason.
A. What is Greg doing in the back?
B. Is it just me or does Doug look like he's doing something questionable?
(They were picking berries.)
A short break from the car.
Grandma was stuck WAY back in the third seat between the boys.
Nolan talking to Greg's wife Kirsten.
Greg spent a lot of time on his phone. Thank you Kirsten for giving him up for almost 2 weeks so we could have him. Life is always more fun with Greg around. (But next time you have to come - I told Greg that I need a personal hair stylist and she has to travel to me!)

More updating - and more to come

July 22:
Dip netting is a totally new phenomenon we had never heard of until we moved here. You literally take a gigantic net (4-5 feet) and stand in the river and wait for a fish to swim in. You have to live here a year before you can do it, so this was our first year.
Total insanity

Look at the line behind them!

July 16:
After Doug got off work, we went for a boat ride to deliver some medicine to a neighbor across the lake. Who knew!? Safeway has home delivery service for more than just me!
Our favorite weed - Fireweed
In the fall, the blooms will all be gone and the whole plant will turn a vibrant red.

Ethan is a very attentive driver.
July 15:
Brenden went out and picked every last bit of rhubarb and brought it in the house. I told him I didn't have a use for it right then, so he put it in his wagon, made a "Free" sign, and sat at the edge of the road screaming "Free Rubar" at the top of his lungs. He kept at it for longer than I would have expected. A friend stopped by to drop off our canoes that they borrowed and he gave each of the boys $.25 and he didn't even take any rhubarb. That's quite the profit on free produce!

Ethan turns TWO!

Happy Birthday Ethan!
First thing in the morning, Ethan got his new scooter from grandma and grandpa.
Nolan and Ethan fought constantly over the red one, so now, they each have their own!
Brenden and Nolan decorated the birthday cake.
As for the rest of the pictures, they were just too cute to choose only a few, so you get TONS!
I love when Nolan's shirt brings out the beautiful blue of his eyes.

The rest of Ethan's birthday was spent having fun outdoors.
This is what Nolan looks like 40% of the time
The other 60% is just darn cute
Ethan's birthday was just a fun, stay at home day. Anything had to be better than last year - we moved into our house on his first birthday and I totally forgot about it. We were glad my parents were able to be here for his birthday and sad when they had to leave that night. It was such a short stay!
